Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) buses operate frequently from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) to Tiruvallur. Journey time is 1.5-2 hours, fare rupees 50-80. Buses also connect from Kanchipuram (rupees 60-100, 2 hours) and Vellore (rupees 100-150, 3 hours).
Tiruvallur is on NH 716 (Chennai-Tirupati Highway) and close to NH 48. It is 60km from Chennai, a drive of 1.5-2 hours. Road conditions are generally good. Expect tolls of rupees 50-100 on the highway sections.
