ATMs are available in Tandur town, but they might not always be functional or stocked. Carry sufficient cash (rupees 500-1000 per day). UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is widely accepted at shops and eateries. Currency exchange facilities are not available; exchange money in Hyderabad. Tipping is not customary in small eateries but appreciated for good service in hotels.
Drink only bottled water or filtered water. Avoid street food if you have a sensitive stomach. Carry basic medications for fever, pain, and stomach issues. The nearest major hospitals are in Hyderabad. Consult your doctor about vaccinations for Hepatitis A and Typhoid before traveling to rural India.
Local SIM cards (Airtel, Jio, Vodafone Idea) are available with ID proof (passport/Aadhaar) and a photo. Wi-Fi is rare outside of a few hotels. Useful apps include Google Maps for navigation and a translation app for Telugu. Basic Hindi is understood by many, but Telugu is the primary language.
Prices vary enormously by state - A meal costing ₹60 in Varanasi might cost ₹250 in Goa or ₹400 in Mumbai for similar quality.
