alternativesPeak Season (Oct-Mar): Pleasant weather but massive crowds at all major sites. Book everything in advance.
Shoulder Season (Apr-May, Sep): Best balance - decent weather, moderate crowds, better prices.

Dress modestly, especially within the ashram and temples. For women, traditional Indian attire like sarees or salwar kameez is preferred. Avoid shorts, sleeveless tops, and revealing clothing. For men, trousers and shirts are appropriate; avoid shorts. Footwear must be removed before entering temples and Sai Kulwant Hall.
ATMs are available near the ashram and in the town centre. UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is widely accepted at most shops and eateries. Currency exchange facilities are limited; it is best to exchange money in Bengaluru. Tipping is not customary in ashram canteens but appreciated at private restaurants for good service (5-10%).
Drink only bottled water or filtered water provided by the ashram. Avoid street food if you have a sensitive stomach. No specific vaccinations are required beyond standard India travel. The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences provides excellent, free medical care, but it is primarily for serious conditions. For minor ailments, local clinics are available.
Local SIM cards (Airtel, Jio, Vodafone Idea) are easily available with a passport and visa copy. Wi-Fi is available in some hotels and ashram guest houses, but often slow. Useful apps include Google Maps for navigation and UPI apps for payments. Telugu is the local language, but Hindi and English are widely understood, especially around the ashram.
