The best time to visit Tamluk is from October to February. The weather is pleasant and cool, ideal for sightseeing.
You can reach Tamluk by train from Howrah (1.5-2 hours) or by bus from Esplanade/Dharmatala (2.5-3 hours). Taxis are also available.
Bargabhima Temple is free. Tamralipta Archaeological Museum charges rupees 10 (Indians) and rupees 100 (foreigners). Mahishadal Rajbari charges rupees 20 (Indians) and rupees 200 (foreigners).
Tamluk is generally safe. Exercise usual precautions: avoid isolated areas at night, dress modestly, and be aware of your surroundings.
You must try Macher Jhol, Luchi-Alur Dom, Mishti Doi, and Sandesh. Explore local sweet shops and street food stalls.
