The best time to visit Ramgarh is from October to February. The weather is pleasant and comfortable for sightseeing and outdoor activities.
You can reach Ramgarh by air via Ranchi Airport (45km), by train to Ramgarh Cantt (RNC) station, or by bus/road from Ranchi and Hazaribagh.
Most attractions like Chinnamasta Temple and Patratu Dam have free entry. Boating at Patratu Dam has a separate charge of rupees 100-200.
Ramgarh is generally safe. Exercise caution in crowded areas and avoid isolated spots at night. Be aware of your surroundings, especially at the temple.
You must try Dhuska with Ghugni, Litti Chokha, and Rugra. These are authentic Jharkhandi dishes available at local dhabas and street stalls.
Hindi is the most widely spoken language. Nagpuri is also common. Basic English is understood in hotels and by some shopkeepers.
If you are not interested in industrial landscapes, you can skip extensive tours of the coal mining areas. Also, avoid the Chinnamasta Temple if you are sensitive to large crowds or animal sacrifice.
A low budget traveler can manage with rupees 1500 per day. A mid-range budget would be around rupees 3000, and a high budget around rupees 6000 per day.
