Nawada is a district city in Bihar, known for its agricultural landscape and mineral resources.
The best time to visit Nawada is from October to March when the weather is pleasant and cool, ideal for sightseeing.
You can reach Nawada by train (Nawada Railway Station), by bus from Patna or Gaya, or by road via NH 31. The nearest airports are Gaya (70km) and Patna (110km).
Most temples and natural sites like Kakolat Waterfall have free entry. The Narad Museum has a nominal fee of rupees 10 (Indians) and rupees 100 (foreigners).
Nawada is generally safe, but solo female travelers should exercise caution, especially after dark. Stick to well-lit areas and avoid isolated spots. Dress modestly and be aware of your surroundings.
You must try Litti Chokha, Sattu Paratha, Chana Ghugni, Thekua, and Khaja. These are staple Bihari dishes found at local eateries and street stalls.
The primary languages spoken are Magahi and Hindi. Some people, especially in hotels and shops, may understand basic English.
You can skip Kakolat Waterfall during the dry season (April-June) as the water flow is minimal. Also, avoid visiting during extreme summer heat if you are sensitive to high temperatures.
A low budget of rupees 1000-1500 per day is sufficient for basic accommodation, food, and local transport. A mid-range budget would be rupees 2500-3000.
