Medinipur, also known as Midnapore, is a district city in West Bengal.
The best time to visit Medinipur is from October to February. The weather is pleasant and cool, ideal for sightseeing.
You can reach Medinipur by train to Medinipur Railway Station (MDN), by bus from Kolkata, or by road via NH16. The nearest airport is Kolkata (CCU).
Most temples and historical sites like Jora Masjid are free. The Medinipur Science Centre and Gopegarh Heritage Park have nominal entry fees (rupees 20-40 for Indians, rupees 100-150 for foreigners).
Medinipur is generally safe. Exercise standard precautions: avoid isolated areas at night, do not accept food from strangers, and be aware of your surroundings in crowded places.
