Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (SETC) and private operators run frequent buses. You can reach Chengalpattu from Chennai (rupees 70-120, 1.5-2 hours) and Kanchipuram (rupees 50-80, 1 hour). The main bus terminal is in the town center.
Chengalpattu is on National Highway 32 (NH32). It is 60km from Chennai, taking about 1.5 hours to drive. Roads are generally good. Expect tolls of rupees 100-200 for the Chennai-Chengalpattu stretch.
