The best time to visit is from October to February. The weather is pleasant and ideal for sightseeing. Waterfalls have good flow after the monsoon.
You can fly to Tuticorin (TCR) or Madurai (IXM) airports. Ambasamudram has a railway station (ASD). Buses connect from Tirunelveli and Madurai. You can also drive via NH44.
Temples are generally free. Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve has an entry fee of rupees 50 (Indians) and rupees 500 (foreigners). Manimuthar Falls has a small entry fee of rupees 30.
If you dislike crowds, skip Agasthiyar Falls on weekends. If you expect grand wildlife sightings, manage expectations for KMTR. Do not expect luxury accommodation or nightlife.
